CAPOEIRA is an unique Afro-Brazilian art form - a mixture of self defense, dance, music, and gymnastics.

Services: Performances, workshops and school residencies. Classes are taught in New Haven, CT at the CT Capoeira Center, (203) 624-8288.

Efraim Silva was born in Guaruja, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He started to practice Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art/dance form, at age 13 and became an instructor of Capoeira at 17. He also studied Brazilian folk dance and music particularly Maculele, an Afro-Brazilian stick- dance form; and Samba, the national music and dance of Brazil. He has been awarded state and federal certification as a professional musician and rhythmist and was awarded a Master of Capoeira certificate by the Sao Paulo Federation of Capoeira in 1994. He is a certified Master Teaching Artist.

"Capoeira is my life--my job, hobby, teacher, trainer, friend, joy and happiness. Being able to teach and perform this beautiful art form, to share it with many wonderful audiences, brings fulfillment to my life and I can't imagine living any other way."
