Music and the visual arts are necessary vehicles through which I fulfill my need to create. My fabric art, clay work, as well as my guitar, piano and voice allow me to explore themes about my culture, society and history. These art forms also enable me to create the beauty I see in my life.As a music educator, I advocate for the arts by teaching about its value in our society as well as in one's life. I am currently a full-time teacher of music at Manchester Community-Technical College which affords me the opportunity to teach adults of diverse ethnic and age groups Western European and American contemporary music appreciation. I am also director of the vocal and instrumental ensembles at the college. The repertoire of both ensembles includes both classical and contemporary music.
I am available for visual art exhibitions, music performances, workshops and lectures on the arts. My lectures and workshops encompass European and American music appreciation as well as the process of creating my fabric art. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, a Masters of Arts in Music Therapy, a Masters of Education in Music Education and a Doctorate of Education in Music from Teachers College Columbia University in New York City. I also hold a Connecticut teacher certification in music (K-12).
Fee range: $100 - $400.
