Consortium Network of Professors Who Study Religion
In 2004, Ian Markham, Dean of Hartford Seminary, approached the Consortium about developing new joint efforts among religion professors of the Hartford Consortium institutions. The Hartford Seminary hosted the first meeting of area religion professors to consider ideas. A network was created as a result of those discussions. The purpose of the group is to share expertise and to explore possible collaborations among local religion departments and religion professors. In addition, the network has been a vehicle for sharing information about events at various campuses. The sessions, which are generally held over dinner, have focused on such issues as interfaith dialogue in a classroom setting, the growth of secularism and Trinity's new institute to study the trend, and special issues involved in teaching Judaism. The group has created a list ( see link) of professors who are willing to give guest lectures in Consortium institutions free of charge. If you are interested in adding your name to the list, please contact Rosanne Druckman. Also there is a listserv that helps the group stay in touch. If you would like to add your name to the listserv please contact Rosanne Druckman.
